Austin, TX—LEGO recently announced the first cohort of its new LEGO Master Educator Program. The 2018 Master Educators are a community LEGO created to “share knowledge and ideas for strengthening student success.” The program “celebrates and leverages educators who embody the LEGO® Education mission of enabling success for all students through hands-on learning experiences in early learning through high school.” One of the educators chosen was TCEA’s own Peggy Reimers.
Reimers is a former public school teacher. She spent 26 years sharing her love of STEAM and hands-on learning with elementary students. At TCEA, as a Director of Professional Development, she brings the same enthusiasm and creativity to teaching educators. She specializes in leading professional development on G Suite for Education, mobile learning devices, robotics, and makers.
Executive Director of TCEA, Lori Gracey shared her excitement about Reimers’ achievement: “Peggy is such a champion of STEAM and robotics. I know she will have a lot to offer this new community as a LEGO Master Educator.”
Reimers helps run TCEA’s State Robotics Contest and also leads a week-long robotics workshop for educators each summer using LEGO EV3 robotics kits.
