Self-Paced Online Course
Google Certified Trainer is a self-paced, online program. Participants can begin anytime and go at their own speed throughout the program.
Upon enrollment, you will receive a program invitation email from TCEA’s learning management system that will give you access to the self-paced course. Within the course, you will find modules that must be moved through in sequential order.
Course Modules
Adult Learning and Google: As an adult learning coach and trainer, you are expected to know how to facilitate professional development. In this module, you’ll explore G Suite EDU-based options for this, including strategies to assist reluctant adult learners. You will also learn how to assess the impact of effective professional development.
Security and Privacy: In this module, you will reacquaint yourself with privacy laws. You will learn about how single sign-on service in Google apps works, as well as describe Google’s policy for protecting student data. You will also gain a deeper understanding of how Google secures your information via automated scanning and auto-whitelisting of email projects and its virus/spam protection.
Tool Dexterity: Do you know the core tools within G Suite for Education? You will learn more about Google’s mission, how to identify system requirements for using Google, how to work with Chromebooks, and a host of other important understandings for Google Certified Trainers.
Admin Console: In this module, you’ll learn about additional Google Services, how to enable two-step authentication, and a variety of other topics. Some of those topics include using G Suite EDU to support communication, where to locate assistance in the Google Product Forum, and how to organize staff into organizational units (OUs).
Portfolio Development and More: The GCT application process is more than an exam. It is a process whereby you create a three-minute video about yourself, share what G Suite EDU professional learning sessions you have facilitated, and put together a Google Tools Case Study. This module revisits some key concepts and offers suggestions for how to navigate this portion of the process.
Frequently Asked Questions

No, there is no fee to apply.
2. Do the TCEA Google Educator courses certify me through Google?
When you complete the self-paced courses, you earn the TCEA Digital Badge and Certificate for Google Educator Level 1 or 2 or Google Certified Trainer (GCT). You also get 12 CPE hours per course or 24 for the Level 1 and 2 bundle. 3. How are TCEA’s courses different from the no-cost Google programs?
TCEA’s Google Certified Trainers and Innovator have recorded videos that provide you with the opportunity to prepare and successfully complete the Google Educator Level 1/2 exams. These videos have been field-tested and used often with others, so we know that for the majority of people, they work.
4. When does the Google Educator certification I earned expire?
Google Educator certifications last for three years. Please note that the Educator Level 1 and 2 exams must be successfully completed before applying for Google Certified Trainer (GCT). You will learn more about annual requirements for Google Certified Trainer in the course.

Upon finishing the final module of the course, you will be asked to submit a form indicating completion. From the point TCEA staff receive the form, it may take up to 48 hours to process your request.
