Self-Paced Online Course
iPad Educator is a self-paced, online program. Participants can begin anytime and go at their own speed throughout the program.
Upon enrollment, you will receive a program invitation email from TCEA’s learning management system that will give you access to the self-paced course. Within the course, you will find modules that must be moved through in sequential order.
Course Modules
iPad Basics: In this module, you will learn about the different settings and basic features of the iPad. You will end this module by sharing about one feature you learned and how it will help you or your students in using the device.
iPad Tools for Teachers: In this module, you will be learning where to find educational apps to use with your students. You’ll be introduced to a variety of productivity apps, as well as apps to use while teaching. You’ll also review a checklist and rubric to help you evaluate apps. You’ll wrap up Module 2 by posting a reply to one of several topics.
Integrating iPads into Instruction: In this module, you will consider two different iPad deployments (the one-iPad classroom and the 1-to-1 deployment). You’ll have a chance to review and think through classroom management, as well as teaching with the iPad in a remote learning environment. You’ll finish this section by telling about your iPad configuration and one strategy, rule, or teaching method to help with classroom management.
Apps for Teaching and Learning: In this module, you’ll briefly review Bloom’s Taxonomy and consider how your students can use an app of your choice to accomplish two of the levels. You’ll then get a chance to see a few open-ended apps that can be used in kindergarten through high school in all subjects. Finally, you’ll share about an app (possibly one that you recommend to others) and how it can be used in your grade level and content area for students to uncover learning or demonstrate mastery of learning.
