Course Modules
Accessibility: In this module, you will explore accessibility from a remote learning perspective. How can you make learning more accessible when you aren’t in the room with the student? You’ll be introduced to digital tools like closed captioning, audio transcription, Immersive Reader, and more to deepen your understanding.
Screen Recording: Teachers have turned to screen recording and casting to facilitate online instruction. While there are tips that many of us can adapt for use online, in this module we will focus on several digital tools you may need to know more about. Those tools include Flipgrid, Screencastify, Loom Pro, and OBS, as well as how to edit videos. What you learn now will save you countless hours later.
Differentiation: Differentiating instruction involves anticipating and responding to students’ needs. In this module, we’ll explore a variety of tools that can assist learners in virtual learning environments. You’ll examine digital whiteboards, choice boards, learning menus, and other tools that support inclusive learning.
Communication: You know how critical it is to communicate in remote learning situations. Everyone from students, parents, education peers, and administrators have to be kept informed. How do you personalize email communications, keep track of student communications, and protect smartphone calls and/or text messages? In this module, you will learn how to do this and more, including sending digital newsletters and making your own online app.
Organization: Staying organized is critical in remote teaching and learning. If you are buried in paper notebooks and yellow sticky notes, please know that there are other ways. In this module, we’ll explore how to organize our digital resources, from websites we use every day to instructional resources we share with students. Learning about digital stickies, managing images and videos, and online schedules will ensure you finish this course better prepared than ever to organize your environment.
