This online, self-paced course presents an introduction to the design tool called Canva. Canva is not to be confused with the Canvas learning management system (LMS). Canva provides you with a powerful toolkit to easily and quickly create spectacular resources even if you are not a designer or an artist. If you are an artist or designer, you have a huge repository of tools all in one place to bring new creations to life at no charge. Yes, Canva is free to all K-12 educators.

Self-Paced, Online Course
Canva Educator is a self-paced, online program. Participants can begin anytime and go at their own speed throughout the program. Upon enrollment, you will receive a program invitation email from TCEA’s learning management system (Instructure’s Canvas) that will give you access to the self-paced course. Within the course, you will find modules that must be moved through in sequential order. The modules can be found below.

Canva can save you time and equip you with tools to make your classroom materials stand out. You will discover endless possibilities available with the Canva design tool. The five topics are benefits, possibilities, navigation, templates, and design basics.|
|Module 2||Five Main Menu Options||In Module 2, you will learn how to access and use five menu options from the Editor menu. These options equip you to develop creative, artistic, and professional products and give you limitless choices for your customized creations. The five main menu options are elements, text, styles, photos, and videos.|
|Module 3||Five Steps for Canva Design||In Module 3, you will jump into Canva using five steps for designs. You will explore templates and begin to create designs from scratch. Let your creativity flow as you use the design tool to give new awesomeness to the creation of classroom resources. The five-step processes for Canva designs are search tools, use of templates, download and share files, video development, and new designs.|
|Module 4||Five Uses of Canva in Teaching and Learning||In Module 4, you will discover five examples of educational resources that are easy to create with Canva. There are so many more, but these will touch on some of the possibilities. You will see how Canva can save you time while you create materials for your classroom. The topics are newsletters and communications resources, interactive lessons, teaching resources, infographics, and presentations.|
|Module 5||Five Exploration Ideas||In Module 5, you will get five exploration ideas to take you to the next level of Canva use. You have explored the many opportunities made available with this tool. Now, it is important to consider design tips and ideas for next steps. The topics are accessibility best practices, more Canva ideas to explore, next steps, educational uses, and the big five-minute challenge to build your own design.|
