SAN ANTONIO, Texas – State Representative Steve Allison (R-San Antonio) has been recognized as the TCEA (Texas Computer Education Association) Friend of Education for 2023 at the annual TCEA Convention & Exposition.

TCEA collaborates with many groups to seek out friends of education who play a key role in making good education policy. The TCEA Friend of Education Award recognizes individuals, such as Representative Allison, who have the leadership and dedication to ensure students are successful in an increasingly global and digital society.

“Representative Allison has naturally been aligned with the priorities of TCEA and our members. Priorities like expanding broadband to every district in Texas, promoting cybersecurity curriculum and cybersecurity for our campuses, championing digital literacy and blended learning, and most importantly, getting David’s Law passed to address the epidemic of bullying and harassment on our campus,” said Matt Russell, TCEA’s Director of Government Relations.

Upon accepting the award at the Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Representative Allison added “I am so humbled and honored to receive the  ‘Friend of Education’ award from such a highly regarded association as TCEA. The use of technology is so essential to education and TCEA has continually demonstrated its dedication to advancing teaching and learning through the use of technology and carrying out the TCEA vision of learning without limits,” said Allison. “I’m proud to support TCEA’s dedication to the enhancement of curriculum and education through the use of technology.”

“With friends of education like Representation Allison at the state capitol, TCEA and its members can count on good policy making for public education,” Russell said.
